For buyers and importers

Why check a VIN if the car may have been at a salvage auction

Hundreds of thousands of insurance lots pass through Copart and IAAI every year: total loss, salvage title, rebuilt. A car may look clean on the secondary market, but the archive keeps the record with photos, damage codes and sale price. We currently hold 12 321 such cards and the database keeps growing.

AllCarHistory is for anyone importing from the US, buying from a reseller, or bidding on Copart/IAAI before a deal. One VIN shows whether the vehicle went through an insurance auction, with what damage and at what price - no registration and no per-query fee.

We do not sell cars or replace Carfax: cards have no service history or full DMV title chain. But here you can see for free what resellers often hide - auction photos, primary damage, mileage and buy now / bid price from the source lot.

Common questions

What are salvage title and rebuilt?
Salvage means the insurer deemed repair uneconomical. Rebuilt means the car was repaired and re-registered. The archive shows condition at auction time, not after body shop work by a reseller.
How are we different from Carfax and AutoCheck?
Paid reports show title history and service records. We show only public Copart and IAAI lots: photos, damage, mileage and auction prices. To answer "was this VIN at a salvage auction" that is enough - and it is free.
Copart vs IAAI - what's the difference?
Both platforms sell insurance and salvage vehicles in the US. Copart is the largest player, IAAI (Insurance Auto Auctions) is second by scale. AllCarHistory combines both: one VIN may appear on either platform at different times.
Can a VIN be removed from the archive?
Yes. If you own the record and want it removed from our site, use the listing removal form. That applies only to AllCarHistory - we do not control other sources.
How to search with only make and model, no VIN?
Open the catalog by make and model - it is a browse of saved lots, not live auction inventory. To verify a specific vehicle you need the VIN or lot number.
